I started my advertising career in the despatch department at Leo Burnett Sydney in 1995. By the spring of that year I’d worked my way into the creative department and refused to leave for the next eight years.
In 2003 I started going really bald and looking more like the late Leo Burnett, who I passed each day in the corridor, so I thought I should try freelancing – and for the next couple of years I worked at agencies such as Y&R, Saatchi & Saatchi, McCann, DDB and some other places I can’t remember.
In 2005 I was freelancing at Leo Burnett when I was offered the role of creative director overseeing Diageo, P&G and Colonial First State Bank. While there I also led projects on McDonald’s and NRMA.
Freelance beckoned again in 2008 and for the next ten years I spent significant time as a writer and sometime creative director at Publicis Mojo Sydney, JWT NYC, Ogilvy Sydney, Droga 5 Sydney, The Monkeys Sydney, Clemenger BBDO Melbourne, DDB Sydney, MJW Sydney, M&C Saatchi Sydney and VCCP Sydney.
In 2019 my family and I moved to Brisbane. After initially picking-up some work at the wonderful Rumble, things went quiet, and I ended up working at Special Group Sydney which was super fun. I then worked at VMLY&R Brisbane for a couple of years, mostly running the Bond Uni account. I am currently the Creative Director at Youi’s in-house agency where we pretty much do everything, even the film direction.
Nice people have recognised my work at Cannes, D&AD, One Show, AWARD, Effies, BADC and some other award shows.
Thanks for reading this loose little bio.
